Grok DCI Encoder is a commercial JPEG 2000 plugin for DCP-o-matic that enables lightning-fast, DCI compliant encoding for digital cinema packages. It replaces the default encoder with one that supports both CPU and Nvidia GPU acceleration.
2K up to 2048x1080 and 4K up to 4096x2160, at 24 or 48 frames per second. Both use the JPEG 2000 digital cinema profiles, which require three components at 12 bits unsigned.
The encoder targets the DCI 2K and 4K profiles from JPEG 2000 Part 1. It applies the required 9/7 wavelet, 32x32 code blocks, CPRL progression order, the progression order change marker that 4K needs, and the DCI rate ceiling of 1,302,083 bytes per frame at 24 fps. Input that cannot be made compliant is rejected before encoding rather than producing a bad DCP.
The Grok core is open source under AGPL v3 and encodes DCI compliant JPEG 2000 on the CPU. The commercial plugin adds the Nvidia GPU encoder and the DCP-o-matic integration, along with support and updates while your subscription is active.
Grok DCI Encoder requires Linux and DCP-o-matic installed on your system. For GPU acceleration, an Nvidia GPU with CUDA support is required. CPU-only encoding is also supported for systems without a compatible GPU.
After purchasing, you'll receive a license key via email. Enter the key in the DCP-o-matic plugin settings to activate on your machine. Each license allows activation on one device at a time.
Yes. You can deactivate your current device from the customer dashboard and activate on a new machine. There is a cooldown period between device switches to prevent abuse.
When your subscription ends, the plugin will stop functioning and DCP-o-matic will revert to its default encoder. Your license key and activation history are preserved, so renewing restores access immediately.
Yes. All updates, performance improvements, and new features released during your active subscription are included at no additional cost.
